To Sahara desert and Marrakech
DAY 1
Marrakech -
Our trekking trip starts from Marrakech to Tassa Ouirgane where you will meet the muleteers and your bags are loaded up onto mules for the day’s journey into the heart of the Atlas. You start the trek at the base of a verdant valley and trek alongside a tributary to the Oued Nfis River. Then we come to the small village of Tizi Oussem (1,785m) and Azib Tamsoult Hut (2250m) overlooking the Ouirgane Valley, where we stay in, enjoying the relief of the fresher mountain air and wonderful Berber hospitality.
DAY 2
Azib Tamsoult Hut -
Today we leave Azib Tamsoult and cross the ancient mountain pass at just under 3,000m, along routes used for centuries by the Berbers. We lunch just below the pass with great views of Aguelzim (3,542m) and Tizi Melloul (4,015m). The afternoon is spent descending to the Mizane Valley. Here in the village of Aremd, that clings to the steep slopes of the valley, we find our second Gist house and are welcomed by a mint tea, which is soon followed by Berber meal.
DAY 3
Aremd-
We wake early for breakfast and start trekking towards the mighty Mount Toubkal. Leaving the river below, we gradually rise until reaching the tiny settlement of Chamharouch at 2310m where we stop for some lunch. We continue this afternoon until we reach the base of Mt Toubkal where the land resembles a hard rocky mountain environment. We arrive at the Neltner refuge.

DAY 4
Toubkal Hut -
A long but exhilarating day of trekking through majestic scenery waits. We wake early this morning, have breakfast and immediately start climbing. Our guides will be taking us through the hidden valleys and up to the rarified atmosphere on the higher reaches of Mt Toubkal. We should reach the summit before midday where the views of the rest of the Atlas Mountains are truly magnificent. We stop for a well deserved lunch before spending the afternoon descending to the village of Imlil 1,751m. Then we transfer you back to Marrakech.
